Daiga Livčāne

Biography

Daiga Livčāne is the Head of the Audiovisual Arts Producing Specialization at the National Film School of the Latvian Academy of Culture. She has been teaching and working at the Academy since 2014, where she produced over 80 student films. She has fostered collaboration and inclusion of young professionals in the Latvian film industry while strengthening networks with Baltic, Scandinavian, and Nordic film schools and industry institutions.   

Beyond academia, she has built a diverse career in the film and theater industries. She has worked as a producer, project manager, and assistant director at Dailes Theatre and Liepaja Theatre. She also produced the award-winning multimedia dance show Both Sides (Abas malas) at Arena Riga as part of Latvia's centenary celebrations. Additionally, she has over 20 years of experience developing and managing volunteer work programs.   

She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology of Culture and Public Relations from the Latvian Academy of Culture in 2003, followed by a Master of Arts degree in Cultural Management in 2005.   

Alongside her academic role, she actively participates in research projects and continues her professional work in film projects in Latvia and abroad.
