Autumn Salon

Each year students of the sub-programme "Cross-cultural Communication (Latvia-France)" are organizing the annual “Autumn Salon”, which this year will take place on November 23 in the mail hall of the Latvian Academy of Culture (24 Ludza Street 24) at 19:00. “Autum Salon” has become a traditional event at the Latvian Academy of Culture already since 1993, when it was held for the first time. The theme of this year's event is the work and life of Serge Gainsbourg, characterizing the mood of the night with his quotation "Je connais mes limites, c’est pourquoi je vais au de-la" (I am aware of my limits, that is why I am going beyond them)

Research conference of the Latvian Academy of Culture "Culture Crossroads XII"

For 3 days in the autumn of 2018 the Latvian Academy of Culture is organising the 12th research conference in the field of culture and arts „Culture Crossroads XII”, which will incorporate several unique events. In the focus of the conference „Culture Crossroads XII” is the celebration of Latvia’s centenary, which is why the subheading of the conference this year is “Birth, celebration and feasting in culture” or BEST WISHES! Visitors of the conference will have the opportunity to hear more than 80 presentations by researchers and practitioners both from Latvia and other countries, such as, Spain, the Netherlands, Russia and Poland, which once again affirms the thematic scope and international dimension of the conference “Culture Crossroads”.

Guest lectures by Dr. Arjo Klamer

Dr. Arjo Klamer is a world-renowned researcher in the field of cultural economics, author of many books and professor at the Erasmus University Rotterdam and the Fontys Academy for Creative Industries. Klamer has taken part in the formation of many university programmes in the field of cultural economics and creative entrepreneurship both at the Masters level and at the Doctoral level. He has organized many workshops in the field of culture management and cultural economics in countries such as the Netherlands, India, Uganda, Japan, Portugal, Italy, Brazil, etc., and has been the board member in several organizations related to economics, cultural economics and philosophy.
