Event Info

On 19th December, 2017 at 19:00 the mixed choir of the Latvian Academy of Culture “Sōla” invites everyone to attend their anniversary concert „Promise” (Solījums). This year the choir is celebrating their 19th Anniversary. In the first part of the show the choir will perform works by Andrejs Selickis, Zane Randall Stroope, Max Reger, Yuri Falik, Ārijs Šķepasts, Imants Kalniņš and Jaakko Mäntyjärvi. Three new works by Maija Einfelde (with the words by Rainis) dedicated to the choir “Sōla” will also be premiered in the show.

In the second part of the show the choir will be accompanied by Riga Music Schools Joint Symphony Orchestra, performing the piece by Jēkabs Jančevskis “Trakās Dienas” (Crazy Days) and premiering the opus by Georgs Pelēcis “Solījums” (Promise).

Kaspars Ādamsons, the artistic director of the choir “Sōla” on the conecpt of the show: “The new works by Maija Einfelde are the cornerstone of the first part of this show. In addition to the programme, we have included other a cappella pieces that have been on the shelf for some time with the intention to play them at the right time. While thinking about the second part of the show, I wanted to combine two self-guided artistic groups in one concert, which have not yet met on the same stage, namely the mixed choir "Sōla" and the Riga Music Schools Joint Symphony Orchestra. Twelve years ago, I came across the piece by Georgs Pelēcis “Promise”. When I contacted the author this year, I found out that this piece has never been performed before. This means that our premiere will be a kind of present for the composer on his 70th birthday anniversary.”

The Conductor of the show will be Kaspars Ādamsons with Laura Štoma and Artūrs Oskars Mitrevics accompanying him in the first part. Both Laura and Artūrs joined the choir in September, 2017.
