19.06.2025

On 17 and 18 June 2025, the Latvian Academy of Culture (LAC) hosted partners from ACE²-EU Alliance member institutions – Instituto Politécnico de Santarém (Portugal) and Universidad Francisco de Vitoria (Spain). The purpose of the visit was to strengthen collaboration in the fields of education and research, as well as to prepare for the jointly organized international learning programme taking place in Latvia this autumn.

LAC welcomed Associate Professor Sonia Sánchez Díaz, Vice Dean for International Relations and Internationalization, and Associate Professor in Audiovisual Communication Manuel Gerardo Casal Balbuena from Universidad Francisco de Vitoria in Madrid, as well as Professor João Carlos da Fonseca Cabral from the Department of Educational Technologies at Instituto Politécnico de Santarém.

During the visit, the guests explored the study environment and infrastructure of LAC’s National Film School and discussed both practical and content-related aspects of the jointly organized Blended Intensive Programme (BIP) “A Journey into Poetic Documentary Heritage”, which will take place in Latvia in September 2025. The colleagues also met with researchers Maija Spuriņa and Gustavs Strenga from the LAC Institute of Arts and Culture to explore future cooperation opportunities in joint research initiatives and publications.

The meetings were also attended by Vice-Rector for Studies Agnese Hermane, Mobility Projects Coordinator Ilze Beimane, Head of the Development Department Vita Dumpe, and International Cooperation Specialist Elza Stalidzēna, who introduced the Erasmus+ mobility opportunities and the academic course offerings at LAC.
