Anita Načisčione and Elīna Veinberga from the Department of Cross-cultural Communication and Foreign Languages taking part in an international conference on metaphor in Genoa
Prof. Anita Načisčione and Ass. Prof. Elīna Veinberga, lecturers of the Department of Cross-Cultural Communication of the Latvian Academy of Culture went to the University of Genoa, Italy to participate at the international metaphor research conference on May 13-15, 2019 as part of their research project Metaphor and Metonymy in Conceptualisation of Human Lives in the Cognitive Linguistic Framework.
Themes of their presentations:
A. Načisčione – Extended Metaphor in Conceptualisation of the Course of Human Life: A Cognitive Diachronic Study.
E. Veinberga – The Role of Metaphor and Metonymy in Conceptualising a Country and Its People: A Cognitive Cross-Century Perspective.
The conference presented an opportunity to create new research contacts. Talks have been initiated with Ass. Prof. Elisabetta Zurru to establish cooperation between the University of Genoa and the Latvian Academy of Culture to conclude an Erasmus Agreement, which would enable an exchange of students and lecturers.
