Call for papers for international academic conference on "Poetics and Politics of History in Film and Theatre"
The Research Centre of the Latvian Academy of Culture is pleased to announce an international academic conference on "Poetics and Politics of History in Film and Theatre"
Time: 29 November – 1 December, 2018
Venue: Latvian Academy of Culture, Riga, Latvia
The aim of the conference is to explore and analyse how performing and audiovisual arts have modelled, interpreted and presented history and people of Latvia and the countries bordering the Baltic Sea. In this conference a special attention is devoted to poetics: artistic expressions and means that are used in the works of performing arts, audiovisual arts, politics and its strategies – the principles and ideological values that are employed by the authors of film and theatre productions and their narratives that reflect upon history. The conference will particularly focus on the analysis of performing and audiovisual arts’ works of those countries that are celebrating their centenary in 2018 – Finland, Lithuania, Estonia and Latvia.
Conference papers will be published in the collection of articles Culture Crossroads, an international peer-reviewed journal published by the Research Centre of the Latvian Academy of Culture (http://www.culturecrossroads.lv). Culture Crossroads is indexed in the international databases: EBSCO (Humanities Source Ultimate), ULRICH'S and Central and Eastern European Online Library (CEEOL).
