Danish minister for culture together with Their Royal Highnesses Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary visiting Latvia to reveal the winner of the TabFab Architecture competition

Latvian conference “Creative Industries. Matchmaking” the Danish Minister for Culture Mette Bock together with Their Royal Highnesses Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary will be visiting Riga, Latvia and among other things will announce the winner of the open international sketch design competition for the TabFab creative quarter.

Based on the winning design, the historical quarter of Tobacco Factory will be rebuilt and transformed into the centre for education, culture and creative industries – the new home for the Latvian Academy of Culture, Riga Film Museum, the National Film School of the Latvian Academy of Culture, as well as the Creative Industries Incubator of the Investment and Development Agency of Latvia. The “Creative Industries. Matchmaking” conference will thus launch the three-year expansion project as well as a number of other activities in Denmark and Latvia, including the development of new international Master programme “Creative Industries”, which will be launched in 2020 together with Riga Technical University and partners from Department for Learning and Philosophy of Aalborg University in Denmark.

The conference "Creative Industries. Matchmaking” is organized by the Danish Embassy in Latvia, the Danish Cultural Institute and the Danish Industry Foundation in cooperation with the Investment and Development Agency of Latvia and the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Latvia.

While the international sketch design competition “the Architectural Vision for Complete Development of the TabFab Creative Quarter" has been commissioned by the Latvian State Real Estate Agency in collaboration with the the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Latvia, the Latvian Academy of Culture and the Danish Cultural Institute. The financial support for the competition was provided by the Danish Ministry of Culture together with the Danish Cultural Institute as part of the Denmark’s contribution and participation in the celebration of Latvia’s centenary.
