European University Alliance Partners Take Another Step Toward International Collaboration

22.04.2025

On Monday, April 14, a remote meeting brought together representatives of the Department of Intercultural Communication and Foreign Languages at the Latvian Academy of Culture (LAC) and the School of Business at Carinthia University of Applied Sciences (CUAS), Austria. The focus of the meeting: building meaningful cooperation between their Italian culture and language specialisation programmes.

Luīze Frančeska Dakša, lecturer at LAC, and Anna Kalve, assistant professor, presented the structure and content of the LAC’s Italian study track within the Intercultural Relations: Latvia–Italy programme. They also shared examples of collaborative projects with cultural and state institutions.

In turn, Elisa Borella, head of the Italian track in the International Cultural Management programme at CUAS, introduced her LAC colleagues to the specifics of their curriculum, the history and role of Italian communities in Carinthia, and existing collaborations with key partners such as the Port of Trieste.

The meeting resulted in a shared concept for a meaningful exchange between students and lecturers, centred on Italian entrepreneurship and culture. Looking ahead, both institutions plan to co-host a joint event in June 2026 in the Austrian town of Villach, bringing together students from the Italian specialisation tracks of both universities.

This collaboration marks an important step forward in strengthening international ties and academic exchange within the framework of the European Universities Alliance.
