Guest lecturer Luigi Saitta visiting National Film School of the Latvian Academy of Culture on April 9 and April 10

On April 9 and April 10, 2018 guest lecturer Luigi Saitta (Italy) will be visiting the National Film School of the Latvian Academy of Culture (17 Elijas Street) with two guest lectures on the theme "Transculturation in the History of the Cinema: The Contents of the Message". In his lectures, Luigi Saitta will describe different cultural patterns and cultural changes with examples from Italian, American, French, British and Russian films. Excerpts from cinema classics such as “Rome, Open city” (Roberto Rossellini, 1945), “Rocco and his brothers” (Luchino Visconti, 1960), “The 400 Blows” (François Truffaut, 1959), “Tom Jones” (Tony Richardson, 1963) and “Battleship Potemkin” (Sergey Eisenstein, 1925) will also be screened during lectures.

Luigi Saitta is a professor of journalism, communication and cultural anthropology and currently has been giving lectures at ANCEI Training and Research Institute in Rome on online journalism and communication. Since the 1970s Luigi Saitta has also been connected to the cinema industry and is the founding member of the National Film Critics Union in Italy.

Everyone, who is interested in the theme, is welcome to attend the lectures by Luigi Saitta. No prior application is required.
