Embassy of Sweden visits Latvian Academy of Culture on May 16th
The Ambassador of Sweden, Karin Höglund, visited Latvian Academy of Culture together with Information, Culture and Education Officer Galina Aizvakara. First the guests met with Vice-Rector Professor Zane Šiliņa, who gave information and answered questions about the history, organization and education of the Academy. After that Ambassador Karin Höglund and Galina Aizvakara met the 2nd year students of programme “Cross-Cultural Relations: Latvija — Nordic countries” and LAC guest-lecturer Anders Olsson. The ambassador and the students had a dialogue about — among other things — the work of the ambassador and of the embassy, as well as the studies of Swedish and the students´ thoughts about the future. The discussion was held entirely in Swedish.
Embassy of Brazil visits Latvian Academy of Culture on May 18th
The visit of Ambassador of Brazil Maria Luisa Escorel de Moraes and Second Secretary Amintas Angel Cardoso Santos Silva was held in collaboration with Cooperation Centre of Baltic-Romance Languages Speaking Countries representatives Solange Borges Hanriot Karlauskis and Jolanta Sausiņa, during which Vice-Rector Professor Zane Šiliņa and Head of the Department of Cross-Cultural Communication and Foreign Languages Professor Laila Niedre presented the guests with information about the Latvian Academy of Culture. During the visit potential collaboration possibilities were discussed, which would aim to promote Brazilian – Latvian cultural relations. By the end of the year 2022, which also marks the Bicentennial of Independence of Brazil and the Centennial of Brazil Modern Art Week, the collaboration is planned to be initiated with an opening of Lusophone Culture Centre at the LAC.
