Latvian Academy of Culture Researchers Achieve International Recognition for Scientific Publications
In 2023 and 2024, researchers at the Latvian Academy of Culture (LAC) have achieved international visibility with 23 scientific publications featured in globally recognised, interdisciplinary academic journals indexed in the Web of Science and Scopus databases. This accomplishment highlights both the quality and relevance of the Academy’s research, as well as its growing role in international academic networks.
The publications reflect the diversity of research carried out at the Institute of Arts and Cultural Studies, with topics including:
- The impact of climate change on intangible cultural heritage
- Participatory and socially engaged art as a form of ethical and political practice
- Precarity and gig work, especially among youth and creative workers
- The role of memory and history in post-socialist societies
- Cultural identity formation, nationalism, and the politics of belonging
- Accessibility and inclusion in the fields of art and heritage.
The publications are authored by a dynamic team of senior researchers, early career scholars, and doctoral students. Their disciplinary backgrounds span sociology, cultural studies, law, philosophy, and heritage research, often working interdisciplinarily and in collaboration with international partners – including from Germany, the United Kingdom, Finland, and Poland.
