Nominees announced for the 2025 National Film Awards “Lielais Kristaps 2025”

Special congratulations to:

LAC rector Dāvis Sīmanis – his documentary film Frankenstein 2.0 has been nominated in the categories “Best Film” and “Best Feature-Length Documentary”, while Dāvis Sīmanis has received a nomination in the category “Best Documentary Film Director”;

LAC doctoral students:

· Lauris Ābele – animation film “Dieva suns” (dir. Raitis Ābele, Lauris Ābele) has been nominated in the category “Best Film”, but Lauris Ābele has received a nomination in categories “Best Screenwriter”, “Best Animation Director”, and “Best Composer”;

· Krista Burāne – her documentary film “Visi putni skaisti dzied” has been nominated in categories “Best film” and “Best Feature Documentary Film”, but Krista Burāne has received a nomination “Best Screenwriter” and “Best Documentary Film Director”;

· Iveta Auniņa – her film “Jātnieka balss”, which was created as a doctorate creative work, has been nominated in the category “Best Debut Film”;

LAC film festival “Easy to be young” creative director Jānis Ābele – his documentary film “Testaments” has been nominated in categories “Best Film” and “Best Feature Documentary Film”;

LAC lecturer Ivo Briedis, who together with Raitis Ābele, Lauris Ābele, and Harijs Grundmanis has been nominated in the category “Best Screenwriter” for the film “Dieva suns”;

Category’s “Best Feature Film Cinematographer” nominee Aleksandrs Vasks (“Putekļu pastardiena”) and category’s “Best Documentary Film Cinematographer” nominee Mārtiņš Jansons (“Visi putni skaisti dzied” and “Mākslas darbi rodas mokās”);
