Open guest lecture by Giannalberto Bendazzi on the beginnings of animation and the development of full lenght animation films - Thursday, 14th September at 15:30-18:30 in the Department of Theatre and Audiovisual Arts „Zirgu Pasts” (46 Dzirnavu Street).
The cinema historian and theoretician from Italy Giannalberto Bendazzi is visiting the Latvian Academy of Culture from September 11 till September 15.
Giannalberto Bendazzi is world-renowned animation cinema theoretician and researcher. He is the author and editor of more than 20 books on the subject of animated cinema, including the history of animation "Cartoons – Cento anni di cinema d’animazione" (1988) and "Animation: A World History" (2016). Bendazzi has also studied live-action cinema and his most well known works are dedicated to Woody Allen and Mel Brooks. He was a profesor at the University of Milan (2002-2009), the Griffith University, Australia (2001-2009).
