Representatives from Latvian Academy of Culture attending International week in Volda University College
Representatives from the Communication Department of the Latvian Academy of Culture (LAC) Aija Lūse and Aija Melbārde this week are visiting Volda University College in Norway, with which LAC have been successfully cooperating for several years.
During the international week, representatives of LAC presents opportunities for cooperation to delegates from other countries: introducing opportunities to cooperate in ERASMUS+ student exchange and present the international master's programme "Creative Industries and Growth Management". An important novelty is the international summer school that will take place from August 17 to 26 in cooperation with Erasmus University Rotterdam and University of Ljubljana (more: https://lka.edu.lv/en/international-cooperation/summer-schools/).
As part of the international week, the representatives of LAC had the opportunity to meet the 2nd year students of the LAC bachelor's study programme "Culture and Art Studies" Līva Marta Roze and Līga Beatrise Boša, who have chosen to study for the semester at Volda University College. Students share their experiences:
Līva Marta Roze: “When I got the scholarship, I was not even sure if I wanted to go. But it turned out for the best. The feeling of adventure (inner and outer, mental and physical), opportunity to put my “Latvia’s life” on pause and bring new thoughts, feelings, impressions, views and knowledge into my daily life. That is what being in Volda feels like for me. A modern education combined with monumental and excessively beautiful nature. A feeling of the world in a small, peaceful town.”
Līga Beatrise Boša. “I've only been here a month, but I already call this place home. Of course, it still takes time to get used to life among the mountains, to languages from all around of the world, to different food and even air, but there is something beautiful and fragilely valuable in it, because the opportunity to experience this is not given to everyone. Volda is a small enough city to have the opportunity to experience a feeling of getting lost, but it is also a big enough city that does not lack dynamics, in my opinion, a beautiful place to go during your studies. I have already met many lovely people who have also chosen to call this place their home for a while, it amazes me how little contact and conversation between people from different parts of the world is appreciated.
My roommates are Romanians, and although I have never been to Romania, I have gotten to know this place over conversations with people, and on my world map it seems closer than kilometers would tell. What I want to convey is that this experience cannot be exchanged for anything else, because it is possible to experience it only by getting here.”
On February 8, representatives of LAC will take a part in an international education exhibition, where they will present the study opportunities offered by LAC to several hundred students. Look for the LAC stand at the exhibition and learn more about not only LAC, but also Riga and Latvia!
During the international week, the colleagues of the Volda University College have planned many other activities, which confirm the importance of internationalization in higher education. Together with colleagues from other universities, representatives of LAC will participate in a discussion about the importance of social media in promoting internationalization. See you in Volda!
