Seminar by the guest lecturer from France Dr. Nicolas Escach taking place at the Latvian Academy of Culture on 8th October
Dr Nicolas Escach is a lecturer and the head of the MA programme “Stratégies innovantes des territoires urbains : anticiper les transitions”, as well as the director of the Campus of Caen at one of the leading French universities “Sciences Po Rennes” located in Northern France, in Normandy, city of Caen.
In recent years, the interaction between place, space and society, community is becoming more and more visible, and these concepts have now become an important component of sustainable planning and decision making process, both at European, national and regional level. Dr Nicolas Escach explores these topics in his research from the perspective of a geographer/ urban development expert, with a particular focus on the Baltic region and Latvia.
The seminar will take place on Tuesday, October 8, 2019 from 15:45 to 17:15 & from 17:30 to 19:00 (Room 2) and will address the following topics:
- City, state, and inter-territoriality: City networks and spatial re-scaling in the Baltic Sea area
- Future city-regions, a spatial analysis – France and the Northern countries in comparison (linked with the MsC Urban Territories’ Innovative strategies: anticipating transitions at Sciences Po Rennes, Campus of Caen)
- Places, community and region – network governance and the reunification of Normandy, 2015-2018 (linked with the territorial context in Normandy).
