27.01.2025

On 24 January, at the Latvian Academy of Culture (LAC) was concluded an international training programme (BIP) " Skillset and Mindset for Intercultural Communication in Higher Education Setting ".

Over five days, European University Alliance ACE2-EU partners from Spain, Lithuania, Portugal, Poland and Austria learned and put into practice intercultural communication skills. Participants appreciated theoretical insights, participated in the activities, enjoyed the success stories from the member universities and expressed themselves in the interactive theatre session. Participants were particularly inspired by the visits to the National Library of Latvia and to Printful, a company with a large international presence and a culture of embracing diversity in the workplace. The participants also had the opportunity to enjoy a Latvian cultural program and a dance evening. For most of the participants, this was their first visit to Riga, and they were positively surprised. They also admitted that the high level of welcome exceeded their expectations.

The BIP " Skillset and Mindset for Intercultural Communication in Higher Education Setting " was the first joint learning programme of the European University Alliance ACE2-EU. It not only laid the draft for intercultural communication guidelines in the participating universities but also encouraged finding many other connections. This will contribute significantly to building future partnerships through short- and long-term joint learning programmes, research projects, student and staff mobility.

The ACE2-EU alliance aims to strengthen and transform institutional cooperation among its members in higher education, research, innovation, and community service. Within the project, LAC together with 8 other European universities will work jointly on developing student-focused and challenge-based learning approaches, creating new interdisciplinary study programs, stimulating joint research and innovation activities, promoting entrepreneurship, and supporting the research community.

The project is co-financed by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Latvia.

Funded by the European Union.
