The LAC National Film School Launches International Cooperation with Universities in Spain and Portugal in the Field of Audiovisual Education

06.05.2025

From 5 to 8 May, lecturers from the National Film School of the Latvian Academy of Culture (LAC) – Dainis Juraga, Daiga Livčāne, and Andrejs Verhoustinskis – are visiting Francisco de Vitoria University (Universidad Francisco de Vitoria) in Madrid. The aim of the visit is to explore teaching methodologies in audiovisual study programmes and assess opportunities for inter-university cooperation, including academic staff mobility.

The visit also marks the first working group meeting for a joint project that will run over the next three years, featuring a series of international masterclasses and creative workshops. The project is being developed in collaboration with partners from Spain and the Polytechnic Institute of Santarém (Instituto Politécnico de Santarém) in Portugal.

The main objective of the initiative is to develop three international learning programmes – Blended Intensive Programmes (BIP) – aimed at fostering student and academic staff mobility and strengthening international academic collaboration among the participating countries. All three institutions – the Latvian Academy of Culture, Francisco de Vitoria University, and the Polytechnic Institute of Santarém – are partners in the ACE²-EU European University Alliance.

The BIP programmes are expected to involve at least 50 students and 10 lecturers in total. The first creative workshop is scheduled to take place in Latvia in September 2025, offering both theoretical lectures and hands-on sessions for students from all three partner universities.
