The aim of the conference is to develop a communicative platform for the approbation of the latest research achievements by researchers of the Latvian Academy of Culture, the Art Academy of Latvia, Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music, the University of Latvia, the National Library of Latvia and other institutions.
The mission of the conference is to present the research achievements on internationally topical issues, which are significant for Latvia as well, in the field of culture and arts, to encourage academic discussion and to share innovative ideas. It enables to specify and extend the understanding of the importance of culture and arts, as well as to facilitate an efficient interaction between the sector of culture and arts and other sectors of public life.
With each year, the conference attracts increasing interest among the members of the sector of culture and arts. Among the participants and visitors there are university professors and students, cultural policy makers, researchers and practitioners. Traditionally, the themes of the presentations cover a wide range of issues in the field of culture and arts.
The call for papers for the conference “Culture Crossroads” is usually announced at the beginning of autumn/end of summer and is open to anyone.
For 4 days in the autumn of 2017 the Latvian Academy of Culture was organising the 11th international research conference in the field of culture and arts „Culture Crossroads XI”. Among the presenters of the conference were not only researchers and experts, but also practitioners and students in the fields of culture, arts and creative industries from all around the world, including Latvia, Estonia, Bulgaria and America.
