November 2 at 10.00–18.00 conference “Research profile of the LAC: topics, questions and answers” will be presented the LAC implemented research projects of 2021. The research team of the project “Creative Industries in Small Towns: Potential and Contribution to Sustainability” will describe the profile and resources of creative industries in small towns, inviting entrepreneurs to a discussion on examples of good practice in creative industries in small towns and their development opportunities. The research team of the project “Newly discovered hillforts in Latvia 2018-2021: cultural-historical significance researchers” will tell how the new discoveries of hillforts take place and how the significance of the place is formed in the context of the newly discovered hillforts. Researchers of the project “The art of nationalism: Social solidarity and exclusion in contemporary Latvia” will pay attention to the topical question - what is the role of art in building and maintaining solidarity in a democratic society? The results of the research will provide an opportunity to find out how contemporary artists understand and explain the manifestations of artistic freedom, censorship and self-censorship in contemporary Latvia. In the discussion “Living cultural heritage. Practices and Challenges ”with the representatives of the intangible cultural heritage communities we will find out how the daily lifestyle merges with the preservation of the heritage and what is the experience and motivation of the members of the community to get involved in maintaining the traditions.
