Iveta Ķešāne
Biography
Iveta Ķešāne is an Associate Professor at The Latvian Academy of Culture. Her interests include the intersections of emotions, migration, culture, development and state-society relationships. She earned a doctorate in sociology from Kansas State University (USA) in 2016. Prior to her PhD studies, she worked at the Baltic Institute of Social Sciences, where she did research on immigration, emigration, and integration. Iveta is a co-author of several research reports on these themes. Recently she has several publications derived from her dissertation, which examine emigration from Latvia towards the West in the context of post-Soviet transformations and the state-society relationships these transformations have cast. These publications appear in such journals as Emotion, Space and Society, Social Currents (together with L. Frank Weyher) and Communist and Post-Communist Studies.
