Iveta Ķešāne

Associate Professor

Biography

Iveta Ķešāne is an associate professor at the Latvian Academy of Culture. Iveta has obtained a bachelor’s degree in cultural sociology from the Latvian Academy of Culture and master’s degrees in global studies from the University of Freiburg (Germany) and the University of KwaZulu-Natal (South Africa). In 2016, Iveta received a PhD in sociology from Kansas State University (USA) through the Fulbright Student Program. Iveta’s research interests are related to the sociology of emotions, cultural sociology, political sociology, as well as sociology of migration, platform employment, and, recently, cultural sociology of militarization. Iveta has published in international scientific journals such as The Sociological Review, Nationalities Papers, Cultural Sociology, Social Inclusion, Emotions and Society, Sociology Compass, Emotion, Space and Society, Social Currents, and Communist and Post-Communist Studies. In addition to research, Iveta teaches various courses in sociological theory in the bachelor’s and master’s programs at the Latvian Academy of Culture.
