Call for LAC lecturers: ACE²-EU ALPS training in Romania
We invite lecturers of the Latvian Academy of Culture (LAC) to apply for the ACE²-EU Active Learning Pedagogy School (ALPS) training course “Learning that Sticks: Innovating Teaching Methods for Meaningful, Inclusive and Lasting Learning”, taking place in November 2026 at the ACE²-EU partner institution Constantin Brâncuși University of Târgu Jiu, Romania.
The programme is built around a practical and experiential approach. Participants will first step into the role of learners themselves and experience different teaching methods first-hand. They will then reflect on how and why these methods work and explore ways of adapting them to their own courses and teaching contexts. Study volume: 2 ECTS and a certificate of participation. Working language: English, B1–B2 level.
During the training, participants will have the opportunity to explore and practically test a variety of approaches, including inquiry-based learning, storytelling, the World Café method, Universal Design for Learning (UDL), multimodal and tactile learning, gamification, digital pedagogy and non-formal education methods.
Each participant is also invited to bring a real topic, learning activity or pedagogical challenge from one of their own courses to work on and further develop during the programme. In international and interdisciplinary teams, participants will also jointly develop a new Micro Learning Opportunity (MLO), prototype it and test it through microteaching, receiving feedback from their peers.
The programme will be particularly valuable for lecturers from different academic fields who would like to refresh their teaching methods and create a more student-centred and inclusive learning environment, as well as for those who are already involved or would like to become involved in developing ACE²-EU MLOs and other international learning formats in the future.
In addition to the academic programme, ALPS offers a valuable intercultural experience and an opportunity to exchange ideas, establish new contacts and develop future collaborations with colleagues from other ACE²-EU partner universities.
ALPS is an ACE²-EU professional development programme for university teaching staff focusing on active and experiential learning methods. This year’s programme explores a central question: How can we create learning experiences that are meaningful, inclusive and lasting for our students?
Schedule:
– 18 November – online preparatory session
– 24–27 November – on-site training in Târgu Jiu, Romania
– 2 December – final online session
The mobility is funded by the ACE²-EU University Alliance, and participants receive a grant to cover travel and accommodation expenses.
LAC application deadline: 14 October. To apply, please contact Baiba Freimane at baiba.freimane@lka.edu.lv
