Teachers of the Latvian Academy of Culture Participates in the ACE²-EU Active Learning Pedagogy School in Madrid
From 26 to 29 May 2026, the Universidad Francisco de Vitoria in Madrid is hosting the Active Learning Pedagogy School (ALPS), organised by the ACE²-EU European Universities Alliance. The programme brings together academic staff from the alliance's partner institutions including Latvian Academy of Culture to collectively strengthen competencies in contemporary, student-centred pedagogy and to foster international collaboration within the European Higher Education Area.
The ALPS programme is structured as a blended staff training mobility, combining online sessions with an intensive four-day in-person programme in Madrid. The training focuses on active and experiential learning approaches that promote student engagement, collaboration, problem-solving, and reflection in real-life situations. Through practical workshops and interdisciplinary teams, participants develop and pilot interactive learning activities while exchanging experience on innovative teaching methods across various fields of study.
The participation of Latvian Academy of Culture representatives in the ALPS programme strengthens the institution's engagement in ACE²-EU Alliance activities and supports the development of new international collaborative initiatives in the areas of study programmes and pedagogy. Participation in such training mobilities provides an opportunity to enhance pedagogical approaches, develop intercultural collaboration skills, and establish new joint academic projects within the European Universities Alliance.
A diverse and accomplished team of academic staff has travelled to Madrid for the training: Associate Professor PhD Rita Lūriņa, Lecturer PhD Anna Kalve, Continuing Education Centre Coordinator Daiga Kovale, LCA Lecturer Māra Žeikare, Latvian College of Culture Lecturer Renārs Zvirgdziņš, and ACE²-EU Work Package 2 Coordinator Baiba Freimane.
The Active Learning Pedagogy School training programme is set to take place at all partner institutions of the Universities Alliance over the coming eighteen months. At the Latvian Academy of Culture, the programme is planned for 16–19 February 2027, with the theme "Intercultural and Creative Dimensions of Active Learning."
