Nominees Announced for the “Spēlmaņu nakts” Annual Theatre Awards for season 2025/2026.
On June 18, the nominees for the “Spēlmaņu nakts” awards in 17 categories were announced, which were viewed and evaluated by a jury of nine industry professionals from August 1, 2025 to June 15, 2026.
Among our alumni and friends, we are especially joyful for our students, professors and producers of the LAC theatre performances:
Category “New Performing Artist of the Year”:
- LAC Year 3 student of Theatre Directing Gusts Ābele for directing “Klusums un troksnis” at the National Theatre of Latvia
- LAC 2025 graduate Elina Bartkeviča for the role as Mērija in director Edvīns Klimanovs’s graduation production “Konemāras galvaskauss” (Rēzekne’s Joriks Theatre in collaboration with the Latvian Academy of Culture)
- LAC soon-to-be graduate of the Master’s program in Audiovisual and Performing Art Adriāns Toms Kulpe for the set design for the play “Bolderāja” (directed by Elmārs Seņkovs) at the Mikhail Chekhov Riga Russian Theatre
Category “Video Artist of the Year”:
- Zane Zelmene for performance “Dalī Auss” (directed by Egija Silāre) at the Latvian Academy of Culture
Category “Large-Scale Performance of the Year”:
- “Mēdeja”, Valmiera Theatre, director – LAC professor Matīss Kaža
Category “Actor of the Year”:
- LAC lector Mārtiņš Meiers for the role as Alans Tjūrings in the performance “Orākuls” at the Daile Theatre
