Agnese Hermane
Biography
Ph.D. Agnese Hermane is the Vice Rector for Studies at the Latvian Academy of Culture (LKA). She previously led the Department of Cultural Sociology and Management, and co-managed the joint undergraduate program "Creative Industries" between LKA and RTU, and was also the head of the master's program in "Culture Management." She is a researcher at the LKA Institute of Culture and Arts and a member of the LKA Senate.
Agnese Hermane holds a doctoral degree from the Latvian Academy of Culture, where she conducted research on leadership in the artistic teams of the Song and Dance Festival. Her research interests include the activities and leadership of organizations in the cultural and creative sectors, cultural policy, audience engagement and education, promoting participation, cultural consumption, shaping cultural offerings, event studies, international cooperation in the cultural sector, creative industries, the development of creative cities, and the status and place of creative individuals in society.
Her practical experience in cultural management includes leading and coordinating numerous local and international cultural projects in the fields of visual arts, theater, and education.
She is currently a researcher in the National Research Program "Latvian Cultural Ecosystem as a Resource for National Resilience and Sustainability" / CERS and the Fundamental Applied Research Project "Reviewing the Concept of Creative Cities: Networks, Intermediaries, and Development Directions" / RePrint. She leads the internal LKA research project "Mapping the Diversity of Cultural Offerings in Latvia: The Case of the 'Latvian School Bag' Program." She has accumulated significant research experience through her participation in applied cultural sector studies, such as "Evaluation of the Content Selection and Implementation of the 'Latvian School Bag' Program in 2019" (2020), "Cultural Consumption and Participation Impact Study" (2018), and "Funding and Management of the Song and Dance Festival Process: Long-term Tradition Development" (2018), as well as in the development of cultural development programs for municipalities and cities (Jurmala, Jekabpils, Lielvarde Municipality, Ventspils Municipality, etc.).
