A meeting of the partners of the OUR COMMON GARDEN project took place at the LKA theater house “Zirgu pasts”

From June 29 to July 1, a meeting of the partners of the OUR COMMON GARDEN project – a seminar on the project’s working methods and scenarios – took place at the LKA theater house “Zirgu pasts” in Riga. As part of the project, three parallel durational performances will take place in November 2027 at art museums in Riga, Bonn, and Venice, along with the creation of a public project archive and a podcast.

During the seminar, the working group collectively familiarized themselves with the project’s conceptual and philosophical foundations and theoretical texts; shared experiences in establishing collaborations with art museums and galleries; and worked on the project’s communication plan and deliverables.

The project’s conceptual foundation is based on French landscape architect and philosopher Gilles Clément’s concept of the world as a shared garden, emphasizing shared responsibility, diversity, coexistence, and continuous development. In this project, Europe is interpreted as a shared space where collaboration, care, and community-building are essential.

Co-funded by the EU's programme 'Creative Europe', the project is implemented by the Latvian Academy of Culture in cooperation with partners fringe ensemble (Germany), Teatro Stabile del Veneto – Teatro Nazionale (Italy), and Vilnius University Faculty of Communication (Lithuania). Its implementation in Latvia is additionally co-financed and supported by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Latvia, through state budget sub-programme 67.06.00 "Implementation of European Community initiative projects and events".

The LKA project team includes Artistic Director, LKA Associate Professor Ivo Briedis; producer, Head of the LKA Production and Marketing Department Kristīne Freiberga; project administrative manager, LKA Development Project Manager Kristīne Bramberga; and communications manager and LKA Marketing and Public Relations Manager Luīze Mizga.
